Meeting the utmost requirements of global customers and consumers

As part of its process of refinement and evolution, in 2023 the Supply Chain Seal was renamed the Guarantee of Origin Program. This certification comprises the requisites of rigorous protocols in important matters such as Sustainability, Animal Origin, Animal Welfare, Quality and Traceability, among others.

Every year, the Guarantee of Origin Program is assessed in order to verify its adherence to the best market practices and to some of the main existing protocols. We consider this is essential to ensure that the program is always up to date.

Some of the references used in the Guarantee of Origin Program are acknowledged worldwide

Such as the BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards), the European Union's Animal Welfare Regulation No. 1099/2009, the NAMI (North American Meat Institute) Animal Welfare Protocol and the European Union's Traceability Regulation.
Since the founding of the Guarantee of Origin Program, all of Friboi's active slaughtering facilities in Brazil have operated in accordance with the program's protocol. In 2023, an important step was taken by expanding it to the facilities that produce Prepared Foods, which demonstrates its robustness and consolidation in the eyes of consumers, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.

At the production units, the entire process is governed by self-control programs, which include, for example, the HACCP system - Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, as well as laboratory analyses, carried out both in in-house and third-party laboratories, both accredited by INMETRO (National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology).

Staff is trained and made aware periodically, in order to implement and maintain a quality culture. To verify the conformity of the production process, internal audits are conducted from time to time by the Quality Assurance team, and external audits by independent certification companies.

Along the production line, all products are inspected by the Federal Inspection Service (SIF), of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), which certifies their quality and origin through a seal printed on the label, and they also meet the applicable requirements of Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency).

The SIF number is linked to the Department of Inspection of Animal Products - DIPOA, with the seal responsible for ensuring the quality of edible and non-edible animal origin products destined for domestic and foreign markets, as well as imported products.

Innovation and Advanced Technology to Guarantee the Excellence of Friboi Products

Continuous investments in cutting-edge research and technologies drive Friboi's innovative culture onto new products development, monitoring of raw materials and manufacturing operations.

The company counts with laboratories specialized in microbiological and biotechnology analyzes in its units around the world, providing important food safety indicators for its
different brands.
With the modernization of the infrastructure and equipment, Friboi guarantees increasingly accurate results and shorter analysis time, reinforcing its commitment to the quality and safety of the products offered to consumers around the globe.

Promoting Animal Welfare

Our production units adopt a comprehensive and rigorous animal welfare program, based on the concept of the Five Domains: Nutrition, Environment, Health, Behavior, and Mental State. Which encompasses the entire journey of livestock, from their loading at the farms of origin to the final stages prior processing in the production units.

This program adheres to the highest standards of animal welfare, encompassing both national and international legislations, as well as customer protocol requirements
and certifications.
Additionally, the program includes policies and operational procedures that are easily understood by the employees at the facilities and the cattle drivers, who receive periodic training. It also entails corrective and preventive measures to promote the health and well-being of the animals at all stages of the process.

We conduct regular internal audits in our facilities, both in person and through a monitoring camera system, and we are constantly subjected to external evaluations by national and international customers, and independent certifying bodies, that verify compliance with animal welfare standards.

Furthermore, we invest annually in acquiring the best equipment available on the market and in the continuous improvement of our facilities. We maintain partnerships with specialized companies, researchers, and universities, strengthening our commitment to the topic.

Currently, we are ranked in tier 5 of the BBFAW report.

At present, our classification in the BBFAW (Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare) report is tier 5, an important global measure that annually assesses the performance of 150 food companies in terms of farm animal welfare.
